QUICKBOOK TIPS & TOPICS FEATURES:

Time-Saving Tips for QuickBooks users:

  1. Use your Open Window List.

  2. Closing All of Your Windows

1.  Using your Open Window List

Why should you use your open window list?  Because it is a time-saving tool.  It enables you to access lists, transaction detail, reports and other information that you have open in your QuickBooks file without having to minimize and maximize them every time.

To turn the Open Windows list on, just go to the top toolbar (gray) and click on "View".  It will be the very first option.  Click on Open Windows List.  This will open up a column on the left-hand side of your QuickBooks desktop.

You might be creating financial statements and realize that you have to add an account to your Chart of Accounts.  You can keep your statements open while you access your Chart of Accounts.  The Open Windows List enables you to see all of the  items you have open, and enables you to jump in and out of the different windows easily.

2.  Closing All of Your Windows

Sometimes when you are working, you may have many items open in your open window list, and don't want to have to close all of them one by one, which takes a lot of time.  Another time-saving tool or command can be found again on your top toolbar under "Window".  Typically the second item down in the list, "Close All" will facilitate the closing of all of your windows with one click, not many.  Try this the next time you have multiple reports, centers and transaction detail reports open in the left hand Open Windows List.
